How to do it
- Sit at the end of a bench with your feet flat on the floor and a dumbbell in each hand at your sides.
- With a slight bend in your elbows, lift the dumbbells out to the sides.
- Stop when your arms are about level with your shoulders.
- Lower them slowly back down.
Beginner tip: Sitting helps you stay still; let your elbows lead the lift.
