How to do it

  1. Hold a barbell with palms facing up, hands about shoulder-width, and bend your knees slightly.
  2. Lean forward from your hips with a flat back and let the bar hang straight down.
  3. Pull the bar up to your stomach, elbows close to your body, squeezing your shoulder blades together.
  4. Lower the bar slowly until your arms are straight.

Beginner tip: Keep your body still and pull with your back, not by swinging.
