How to do it

  1. Stand tall, feet about shoulder width, holding a barbell in front of your thighs with palms facing you, hands a bit wider than shoulders.
  2. Lift your shoulders up toward your ears as high as you can, arms staying straight.
  3. Hold for a moment, then slowly lower your shoulders.

Beginner tip: Shrug straight up and keep your arms straight; don't bend them to help.
