How to do it
- Set the bar in the rack just below shoulder height, rest it across your upper back, lift it off and step back.
- Stand tall with feet about hip-width apart.
- Step forward with one leg and lower until your back knee nearly touches the floor, keeping your body upright.
- Push through your front heel to return to the start, and repeat on each side.
Do all reps on one side, then switch.
Beginner tip: Get comfortable with dumbbell lunges before moving to the barbell.
